Obituary Notice – Russell E. Waxham

ROANOKE, VA:  Russell E. Waxham, 85, of Hershberger Road, Roanoke, VA, formerly of Sheridan, died Wednesday, December 9th, 2015 at Friendship Manor Nursing Home, Roanoke, VA.  He was born in Dunkirk, on September 23, 1930, the son of the late Raymond and Lillian (Post) Waxham.

Mr. Waxham served in the Air Force during the Korean Conflict and worked as a Lineman for the former Ralston-Purina Company Dunkirk., for 20 years retiring in 1993.  He was a member of Our Lady of Nazareth RC Church Roanoke, VA., the Roanoke American Legion Post #3 and a Boy Scout Leader for former Troop #21, Forestville.

Survivors include two daughters, Rosanna (Steve) Carter, of Roanoke, VA, Linda (Laird) Williams, of Raleigh, NC, a son, Paul Waxham, of Ithaca, two sisters, Pauline Hutchinson, of East Aurora, Winifred (Robert) Mount, of Thurmont, MD, two brothers, Robert Waxham, of Springfield, VA and Edward (Irene) Waxham, of Lexington, KY.  Also surviving are 7 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, his special companion Jean Farmer of Roanoke, VA and several nieces & nephews.  Besides his parents he was predeceased by his wife Anna (Castor) Waxham, whom he married May 4, 1957 in St. Martin’s RC Church, Langford and who died January 18, 2003, by a son Mark Golabek, who died June 19, 1999, an infant sister Barbara Waxham, a brother-in-law Donald Hutchinson, a sister-in-law Barbara Waxham and a nephew James Mount.

Friends are welcome to call at the Riles & Woolley Funeral Home, 39 Main Street, Forestville on Sunday evening from 7-9 pm, from where Prayer Services will be held Monday morning at 9:30 o’clock followed by A Mass of Christian Burial from St. Rose of Lima RC Church, Center Street, Forestville at 10 o’clock, with Rev. Daniel F. Fiebelkorn, pastor officiating.  Interment will follow in Sheridan Center Cemetery, Town of Sheridan.

    On behalf of my wife and staff I am writing to say that we are sorry to learn of Mr. Waxhams’s passing,although we are not surprised. He has not been well for some time. It has been awhile since we last saw him. He was a very very nice man and we will miss him. I pray your comfort in your loss.

    To the Family of Russ Waxham: so Very Sorry for Your Loss. Russ was a Great man! He Spoke Highly of Each of You! He was so Very Proud of All his Family! He is now Safely Home with His Beloved Anna! May he Rest in Peace!
