FREDONIA: William S. Panek, 90, of Chautauqua Street, Fredonia, died Wednesday, September 14th, 2022 at his residence. He was born in Silver Creek, on August 4, 1932, the son of the late Stanley and Minnie (Hazelton) Panek.
Mr. Panek worked as a drill operator for the former Dunkirk Radiator in Dunkirk, for 42 1/2 years retiring in 1995. He enjoyed reading and mowing the lawn.
Survivors include his wife of almost 72 years, June M. (Fuss) Panek of Fredonia, whom he married on October 28, 1950, in Silver Creek, three sons Richard (Marilyn) Panek, of Lakeview; Keith (Debbie) Panek, of Dunkirk; Tracy Panek, of Fredonia; a daughter, Cindy (Charles) Shaver, of Dunkirk; and a sister, Winifred Jacobs, of Sheridan. Also surviving are six grandchildren: Amy (Mike Munson) Panek, Zachary Panek, Brett (Katie) Panek, Brandon (Marisa) Shaver, Tania (Rashad Graham) Shaver, Megann Panek, three step-grandchildren Jessica Berdyck, Philip Berdyck, Nicholas Berdyck, six great grandchildren and several nieces & nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by a sister Mary Lou Kujawa.
Friends are welcome to call at Riles & Woolley Funeral Home, 39 Main Street, Forestville on Sunday from 4-7 PM, from where Funeral Services will be held Monday morning at 11 o’clock with Rev. David Watson, pastor of Sheridan United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will follow in Forestville Cemetery.
