SILVER CREEK: Donald D. Summerton, 83, of Old Main Road, Silver Creek, formerly of Forestville, died Friday, February 28th, 2014 at Buffalo General Hospital. He was born in Dunkirk on February 27, 1931, the son of the late Clarence O. and Mabel E. (Griewisch) Summerton.
He worked as a Truck Driver for H. Olsen & Sons, Contractors Inc. Forestville, for approximately 10 years and he had also previously worked as a mechanic for the former Chum’s Sunoco, Forestville for 20 years. Mr. Summerton was an exempt member of Forestville Fire Department and a member of Silver Creek Fireman’s Club. He enjoyed camping, NASCAR, traveling & socializing.
Survivors include two daughters, Linda Saletta, of Fredonia and Vickie (Steven) Cockburn, of Greensboro, NC. Also surviving are 4 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, several nieces & nephews and his companion Margaret Best of Silver Creek. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his wife Etta M. (Nelson) Summerton, whom he married on March 23, 1951 in Silver Creek and who died February 22, 2003.
Friends are welcome to call at the Riles & Woolley Funeral Home, 39 Main Street, Forestville on Tuesday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. There will be no service observed. Interment will be at the convenience of the family in Pioneer Cemetery, Forestville.
