IRVING: Ivan E. Raynor, Jr., 85, a resident of TLC/HN Nursing Facility, Irving, formerly of Forestville, died Saturday, August 3rd, at his residence, following a lengthy illness. Mr. Raynor was born in Westfield, on March 15, 1928, the son of the late Ivan E. and Margaret (Shaw) Raynor, Sr.
He served in the U.S. Navy where he occupied Japan & served on Destroyer Ships during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Raynor worked as a Welder for the former Al Tech Specialty Steel, Dunkirk, was a lifetime member of J. Carter Knapp American Legion Post #953, Forestville and a member of the Sheridan United Methodist Church. He loved to read, particularly westerns and like to cook & garden.
Survivors include his wife Loretta (Skelly) Raynor, of Forestville, whom he married in 1974, in St. John’s United Church, Dunkirk, three daughters, Kathy Ballard, of Jamestown, Joyce (Sal) Russo, of Ohio, Rita Ann (Carl) Bean, of Rochester, a sister, Marion Barnum, of Dunkirk, five brothers, David Raynor, of Fredonia, Gordon Raynor, of Dunkirk, Robert Raynor, of Jamestown, Edward (Helen) Raynor, of Florida and Michael (Rita) Raynor, of Fredonia. Also surviving are 4 grandchildren, 2 great grandsons and several nieces & nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by a son Robert Raynor, who died in 1968 in Vietnam, infant siblings Allen, Joyce, Beverly & Charlotte Raynor, by 3 adult brothers Paul, Dale & Miniford Raynor and by 2 adult sisters Carolyn Fink and Clarice Kopta.
There will be no visitation observed. Graveside Services will be held in the Portland Evergreen Cemetery at a later date and time, to be announced.
