FORESTVILLE: E. Darlene (Spoon) Shevlin, 86, of Hopper Road, Forestville, died Friday, June 14th, 2024 at her residence, following a lengthy illness. She was born in Clymer, NY on March 8, 1938, the daughter of the late Fred and Minnie (Dewey) Spoon.
Darlene worked as a bookkeeper for the former Shevlin’s Sunoco Irving, for 18 years. She also at one time worked as an assembler for the former Forbes & Wagner in Silver Creek and as a waitress for both the former Irving Diner and the former May’s Diner.
Darlene was a member of the Forestville United Methodist Church, a past member of the former Hanover Grange #595 and was a foster mother. She loved to knit & sew, enjoyed flowers & gardens and worked on family genealogy. Darlene especially loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors include two daughters, Deborah Threlkeld and Denise Shevlin, both of Forestville; two sons James (Shirley) Shevlin, Jr., of Silver Creek; and Jeff Shevlin, Sr., of Dunkirk. Also surviving are twelve grandchildren; TImothy, Robert, Sheri, Anna, Kathleen, Christopher, Jeffrey, Michael, Matthew, Rachel, Chartae & Tiffany, two great grandchildren Mikhail & Elliana and several nieces & nephews. Besides her parents she was predeceased by two sisters, Earldine Christiensen and Shirley Bigler and by four brothers, Fred E. Spoon, Jr., James D. Spoon and Robert R. Spoon & William Spoon.
Friends are welcome to call at Riles & Woolley Funeral Home, 39 Main Street, Forestville on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM from where Funeral Services will be held at 11 o’clock Thursday, with Rev. Patrick Burke, pastor of Victory Baptist Church, Fredonia, officiating. Interment will follow in Smith Mills Cemetery, Town of Hanover.
