Obituary Notice – Larry E. Kibbe

DUNKIRK:  Larry E. Kibbe, 77, of Central Avenue, Dunkirk, passed away Thursday, January 11th, 2024 at his residence, under Hospice Care after a courageous battle with lung disease.  He was born in Jamestown on July 15, 1946, the son of the late Allie and Doris (Chase) Kibbe.

  Larry was a graduate of Cassadaga Valley Central School, Class of 1964.  He worked for many years at Frederickson Builder Supply in Cassadaga, then the former Red Wing Co. and Carriage House, Fredonia as a forklift operator and a shift leader retiring in 2010.  Larry was a former member of the Fredonia Beaver Club.

  He had a passion for hunting until he was no longer able and enjoyed taking other people, especially his grandsons for youth season. Larry was an accomplished Turkey Caller learning it from his brother Art. He enjoyed carpentry & remodeling and was known for his sweet tooth. Larry was well respected and will be greatly missed by those who knew him.

  Survivors include his wife Sharyn Duff-Kibbe, of Dunkirk, whom he married on October 14, 2006, in the First Presbyterian Church, Dunkirk, two daughters, Tina (Rusty) Gross, of Cassadaga; Dori (Bill Kelley) Denis, of Jamestown; two sons Dean (Helen) Bush, of Wisconsin Rapids, WI; Jamie (Kristin) Kibbe, of Columbia, SC; two sisters, D. Jean Ricker, of Burnsville, NC; Ruth Forbes, of Sinclairville; three brothers, Arthur Kibbe, of Sinclairville; Robert (Edna) Kibbe, of Gerry; and Kneute (Dorothy) Kibbe, of Gerry.  Also surviving are eleven grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren, four step-great grandchildren, several nieces & nephews, and “Josie girl”.  Besides his parents he was predeceased by a brother-in-law Darwin Forbes.

  Services will be held at a later date.  The family suggests memorials may be made either to Chautauqua Hospice & Palliative Care, 20 W. Fairmount Avenue, Lakewood, NY 14750 or to the Northern Chautauqua Canine Rescue, 7540 North Gale Street, Westfield, NY 14787.
