FORESTVILLE: Lorenzo Ruia, 56, of Hanover Road, Forestville, passed away at his residence Sunday, November 19th, 2023 following a short battle with ALS. He was born in Phoenixville, PA on November 8, 1967, the son of Arlene (Teas) Ruia, of Cassadaga and the late Alberto Ruia.
Lorenzo was a graduate of Waterville Central High School in Waterville, NY, Class of 1985. He worked as a Corrections Officer most of his life and retired from the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Department while working at the jail in Mayville in 2019. He enjoyed working on the computer & technology, and loved to read.
Surviving besides his mother are his wife Michele L. (Menshel) Ruia, of Forestville, whom he married on September 15, 2001, in Collins, NY, three daughters, Megan Thompson & Zach, of Hamburg; Heather Ruia, of Hamburg; Erica Ruia, of Rome, NY; two sons Ryan Ruia & Jill, of Syracuse; Matthew Thompson, of Forestville; a sister, Laura (Steve) Wintersteen, of Cassadaga; a brother, Dante (Kerry) Ruia, of Deansboro, NY. Also surviving are several nieces & nephews.
There will be no services observed at this time.
The family suggests memorials may be made to the ALS Association, Upstate NY Chapter 135 Old Cove Road, Suite 213, Liverpool, NY 13090.

I am so sorry and sad to hear of Lorenzo’s passing. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you during this difficult time. Lorenzo and I worked together selling insurance door-to-door many years ago and he is absolutely one of the finest people & friends I have met.
