FREDONIA: Roger W. Woodcock, age 69, of Christy Road, Fredonia, passed away Wednesday, November 8, 2023, at his residence. He was born in Silver Creek on June 24, 1954, the son of the late Harry and Barbara (Smith) Woodcock. Roger served in the U.S. Marines as a Sgt. where he met his best friend Paul Gilmore of 48 years and his wife Kathy.
He worked as a Sanitation person at Wal-Mart Fredonia, for 11 years, retiring in 2023. He also previously worked for the former Dunkirk Ice Cream for 22 years and then The Carriage House in Fredonia. Roger enjoyed traveling, working on vehicles, camping, going to the Syracuse Nationals, and making cheesecakes for friends and family. He was all about family, he loved his nieces & nephews and his dog “Sadie”.
Survivors include his partner of eighteen years, Mary Bigelow of Fredonia, children, Barbara Ward, of Moriah, NY; Roger (Angel Doner) Woodcock, Jr., of Dunkirk; Samantha Laskey, of Ripley; Autumn Bigelow, of Brocton; Bryon Russo, of Brocton; John Bigelow, of Portland; three sisters, Virginia Bickhart, of Fredonia; Sharon Winklemann, of Silver Creek; and Gloria Cardin, of Missouri. Also surviving are fifteen grandchildren; Dominic Pryll, Robert Russo, Micheal Ward, Dylan Laskey, Ronald Ward, Jr., Caleb Laskey, Kyler Laskey, Aden Laskey, Shyanne Bigelow, Skylar Bigelow, Lexi Bigelow, Devin Bigelow, Seth Bigelow, McKenna Bigelow, Jayce Bigelow, one great grandson Cameron Russo, one grandchild on the way and several nieces & nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by a brother Dean Woodcock and two sisters Linda Silsby and Suzanne Carte.
Friends are welcome to call at Riles & Woolley Funeral Home, 39 Main Street, Forestville on Monday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM, from where Funeral Services will be held Tuesday morning at 11 o’clock. Interment will follow in Jolls Cemetery, Perrysburg, where Graveside Military services will be conducted by members of J. Carter Knapp American Legion Post #953, Forestville.
