GOWANDA: Lester Wayne Heupel, 90, a resident of Gowanda Rehab & Nursing Center, formerly of Hanover Road, Silver Creek passed away Wednesday, August 16th, 2023 at his residence following a short illness. He was born in Silver Creek on May 13, 1933, the son of the late Clarence T. and Helen (Miller) Heupel, Sr.
Wayne served in the U.S. Army as a Pfc during peacetime. He worked as a Maintenance Man for Silver Creek Central School, for 10 years from 1988 to 1998 and also worked as a Carpenter since 1960.
Wayne was a member of Huntley Hose Co. #1 since 1954, joined Silver Lodge F&AM #757 in Silver Creek in 1960 and was formerly the caretaker & president for Evergreen Lawn Cemetery, Town of Hanover. He enjoyed fixing things.
Survivors include a sister, Marie Dubert, of Maryland; a brother, Roger Heupel, of Florida a sister in law Kay Heupel of Amherst and ten nieces & nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by a brother Clarence T. Heupel, Jr.
Graveside Services will be held in Evergreen Lawn Cemetery, 12020 Angell Road, Silver Creek, Town of Hanover, Saturday, September 16th, 2023 at 10 o’clock with Jay Dubert, nephew of the deceased, officiating. Where a Fireman’s Service & Masonic Service will also be conducted.
The family suggests memorials may be made to Silver Lodge #757, F&AM, PO Box 105, 260 Central Avenue Silver Creek, NY 14136.

I just wanted to share how wonderful my Uncle Wayne was . I’ve always known him as my uncle , my father Earl Monty Fox always referred to him as our uncle . They were friends as children and continued as they grew older . Even helping us move to Az , where I was born , he even visited here a few times . And whenever we visited NY , we
