Obituary Notice – Kenneth L. VanBuskirk

FORESTVILLE:  Kenneth L. VanBuskirk, 69, of Swan Street, Forestville, died Monday, September 4th, 2023 at his residence, following a short illness.  He was born in Silver Creek on December 6, 1953, the son of the late George VanBuskirk and Mae (Newton) Franklin.

  Ken served in the U.S. Marines as a Pfc during the Vietnam War and served 1 year overseas.  He worked as a Truck Driver for J.B. Hunt Transport Services, Inc. Bladenboro, NC. and previously worked as a Crane Operator for the former Roblin Steel Co., Dunkirk.  He also, at one time, drove truck for First Freight, Dunkirk.

  Ken enjoyed riding motorcycles & classic cars, his favorite car was his 1974 Chevy Nova SS, with a High Output 350.

  Survivors include three sons Chris (Cassandra) Hubbart, of Sterling, VA; Jeromy (Crystal Irwin) VanBuskirk, of Forestville; Brandon VanBuskirk, a brother, David (Valorie) VanBuskirk, of Forestville; a half brother, Christopher (Faith) Thoroman, of Flint, MI; a step sister, Kathy (Lance) Parker and a step brother, Kennard Franklin, Jr.  Also surviving are three grandchildren.  Besides his parents he was predeceased by his stepfather Kennard Franklin, Sr., a sister Susan Sheldon, an infant sister Georgette VanBuskirk and an infant brother Daniel VanBuskirk.

  Friends are welcome to call at Riles & Woolley Funeral Home, 39 Main Street, Forestville on Saturday, September 30th from 11 am – 1 pm, from where a Celebration of Life will be conducted 1 o’clock, with Rev. David Watson, pastor of Sheridan United Methodist Church, officiating.  Military Services will be conducted by members of J. Carter Knapp American Legion Post #953, Forestville.

  The family suggests memorials may be made either to Sheridan United Methodist Church, Main Road Sheridan, NY 14135 or Forestville Fire Department, Inc. PO Box 299, Forestville, NY 14062.
