FORESTVILLE: Richard “Dick” Joseph Pisa, 94, of Forestville, passed away Tuesday, August 8th, 2023 at his residence. He was born in the Village of Silver Creek on September 22, 1928, the son of the late Anthony J. and Mary (Privitere) Pisa.
Dick served in the U.S. Navy as a Seaman 1st Class on the USS Washington BB56 during WW II. Being a truck driver most of his life, has worked for numerous companies including Gernatt Asphalt Products, Inc., Collins and Walker’s Fruit Basket, Forestville. Dick was a former member of the Gowanda Moose, for 10 years, former & honorary member of Hanover Hose Co. #1 for 35 years, holding many offices, was a director of Evergreen Lawn Cemetery, Hanover Center and a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel RC Church, Silver Creek.
He was a great fisherman, hunter, former snowmobiler and was interested in NASCAR since 1970. Dick also enjoyed being with his Breakfast Friends at Burger King in Irving.
Survivors include his wife Sylvia M. (Miller) Pisa of Forestville, whom he married on May 16, 1964, at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel RC Church, Silver Creek, four daughters, Michelle (Kim) Gibbon, of Silver Creek; Denise (Jerry) Williamson, of Novelty, OH; Kathy Pisa Wolff, of Georgetown, TN; Marla (Jim) Reid, of Elma; and a son, Richard J. (Gail) Pisa, II, of Tonawanda. Also surviving are six grandchildren; Gina & Abby Williamson, Tessa Gibbon, Jim Douglass, Richard (Amie) Pisa, III, and Lindsay (Kevin) VanKoughnet, four great grandchildren; Cadance Pisa, Liam & Faith Rushford and Gabriella VanKoughnet and several nieces & nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by three brothers Joseph, Peter & Christy Pisa, a sister Grace Pagano, son in law Ted Wolff and a granddaughter Lauren Pisa.
Friends are welcome to call at Riles & Woolley Funeral Home, 39 Main Street, Forestville from 4-7 PM on Friday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 1 o’clock at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel RC Church, 165 Central Avenue, Silver Creek, with Rev. Daniel Fiebelkorn officiating. PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH.
A Fireman’s Service will be conducted Friday evening at 6:30 in the Funeral Home, by members of Hanover Hose Co. #1. Private Interment will be at the convenience of the family in Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Silver Creek.
