DUNKIRK: Bonnalyn E. (Bonnie) Reynolds, 89, a resident of Chautauqua Nursing & Rehab Center, Temple Road, Dunkirk, formerly of Fredonia, went to be with her Lord Wednesday, November 16th, 2022 at her residence. She suffered from Alzheimer’s disease for the past few years.
Known as Bonnie to friends and family, she was born in the Village of Wayland, NY on February 12, 1933, and grew up in Cohocton, NY in Steuben County. She was the daughter of the late Jesse and Genevieve (Francis) Edmond.
Bonnie was a graduate of Cohocton Central School, Class of 1950 and Fredonia State Teachers College in 1954 with a BS degree in Music Education. Then, in 1962, she received her MS degree in Elementary Education at Geneseo State Teachers College. Bonnie taught for a total of 26 1/2 years, in the Bradford, Campbell, Cohocton, Dansville and Caledonia-Mumford Central Schools.
Bonnie was a former member of the Laona United Methodist Church, a volunteer at St. Columban’s on the Lake, and an organizer. She was interested in family genealogy, and was an active member of Parkminster Presbyterian Church in Rochester before moving to this area. Bonnie enjoyed playing cards, piano and was very musically inclined.
She leaves her children, Debra (Claude) McAvoy, William (Christine) Reynolds, Susan (Brian) McAvoy, and a brother, Richard (Sara) Edmond, of Marcellus, NY. Also surviving are eight grandchildren; Traci McAvoy (David) Avila, Angela McAvoy Bittinger, Julie McAvoy (Jamie) Hebner, David (Sara) McAvoy, Alan (Rachael) McAvoy, Joshua (Marissa) Reynolds, Jocelyn Reynolds (Mark) Rauch, and Justin (Emily) Reynolds. She also leaves behind twenty-four great grandchildren; David, Talia, Marlena, and Giovanni Avila; Luke, Adam and Kate Bittinger, and Kalie McAvoy; Gracelyn, Brystol and Harlan Hebner; Mason, Matthew, Olivia and Audrey McAvoy; Ella, Faye and Ruby Reynolds; Will, Maggie, Molly and Anna Rauch; Harper and Brighton Reynolds; and one great-great grandson; David Avila.
Besides her parents Bonnie was predeceased by her husband George Reynolds, whom she married on July 2, 1955 in Cohocton, NY and who died in 2020; a sister Marlene Graham; and two brothers, Lee and Jesse Robert Edmond.
Friends are welcome to call at Riles & Woolley Funeral Home, 39 Main Street, Forestville on Monday from 11 AM to 1 PM from where Funeral Services will follow at 1 o’clock with Rev. Michael Pollock, pastor of Gage Chapel Community Church, Smith Mills, officiating. Private Interment will be at the convenience of the family at Burnham Hollow Cemetery, Town of Arkwright.
