DUNKIRK: Ronald R. Kaus, 84, of Franklin Avenue, Dunkirk, died Monday, November 7th, 2022 at UPMC Chautauqua at WCA Hospital, Jamestown. He was born in Dunkirk, on January 17, 1938, the son of the late Frank and Rose (Kaus) Wilemski.
Ronald was a graduate of the former Cardinal Mindszenty High School, Class of 1956 and served in the U.S. Army from 1957-1959. He worked as a Municipal Worker for the City of Dunkirk DPW, for over 28 years and Ronald also previously worked for the former Allegheny Ludlum Steel Corporation, Dunkirk, was a former Fire Chief for the City of Dunkirk and was currently the oldest living member of Daniel Anson Hose Co. #3, Dunkirk.
He was a member of the Kosciuszko Club, the Exempt Fireman’s Club and the First Ward Falcon’s Club, all of Dunkirk.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Patricia A. (Mierzwa) Kaus of Dunkirk, whom he married on May 27, 1961, in the former St. John Fisher RC Church, South Dayton, a daughter, Theresa (Richard) Schrantz, of Fredonia; two sons Michael Kaus, of Glendale, AZ; Richard Kaus, of Dunkirk; two sisters, Audrey (Danny) McGill, of Dunkirk; and Ardene Lesch, of Dunkirk. Also surviving are two grandchildren; Sean Christopher (Kristen) Kaus, Brian (Melissa) Schrantz, seven great grandchildren; Sean Kaus, Jr,, Everett & Owen Kaus, Michael Kaus, Jr., Eliza, Katrina & Luke Schrantz and several nieces, nephews & cousins. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his grandparents Lawrence & Helen Kaus, a sister Bernadette Pasiecznik, a grandson Michael C. Kaus and a great granddaughter Daisy Grace Schrantz.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date, time and place to be announced.
The family suggests memorials may be made to Charity of one’s choice.
