STOCKTON: Bartho “Bart” E. Tripi, 94, of Rt. 380, Stockton, formerly of North Bergen, New Jersey, passed away Thursday, July 20th, 2017, peacefully at home. He was born in Brooklyn, NY on May 13, 1923, the son of the late Joseph and Josephine (Fomulara) Tripi.
He served in the U.S. Army during WW II, was involved with the invasion of Normandy and was honorably discharged with Military Honors. He worked various jobs in New York City, including as a Senior Programmer for McGraw Hill, for 20 years. Mr. Tripi loved the excitement of driving taxi in New York City, where he met many actors and memorable characters.
He married the love of his life, Maryann Wiles in 1964 and they resided in North Bergen, New Jersey for the next 35 years. In 2014, they moved to Stockton, NY, after an illness to his wife left them needing to be near her family. His undying love and devotion to his wife, was truly a gift and gave him purpose for life. He spent the last 3 years of his life content knowing his wife was being taken care of.
Surviving besides his wife are a sister, Angelina Falcone, sisters-in-law Rose Tripi, Loretta Tripi all of Brooklyn, Elizabeth Domino of Cassadaga, Dolly Wiles of West Seneca and Carol Wiles of Buffalo. Also surviving are many nieces & nephews and great nieces & nephews living in New York City, Buffalo & Chautauqua County. A special thank you to his nephew Joseph Tripi for being instrumental in gathering his genealogical information. Besides his parents he was predeceased by 5 brothers Vincent, Anthony, Joseph, Salvatore and Dominic Tripi, a sister Mary, 4 brothers-in-law Joseph Domino, Jack Wiles, Paul Wiles and Charles Wiles, a sister-in-law Dorothy Wiles and a nephew Louis Tripi.
There will be no prior visitation. Graveside Services will be held Wednesday morning at 11 o’clock from Cassadaga Cemetery, Maple Avenue, Cassadaga, with Rev. Daniel Fiebelkorn, pastor of Faith Community Our Lady of Mt. Carmel RC Church, officiating. Military Services will follow being conducted by members of the Cassadaga American Legion Post #1280. A luncheon will follow at the Cassadaga American Legion, across the street from the cemetery.
The family would like to thank the caregivers who have assisted Mr. Tripi along with Chautauqua Hospice & Palliative Care.
