Obituary Notice – Joyce M. Engel

SILVER CREEK:  Joyce M. Engel, 79, of Stebbins Road, Silver Creek, died Friday, June 26th, 2015 at her residence.  She was born in Silver Creek, on June 14, 1936, the daughter of the late Nelson and Edna M. (Newton) Cross.

Mrs. Engel was a graduate of Silver Creek High School, worked for the former New York Telephone in Silver Creek and the former Petri Baking Products Silver Creek.  She was a member of First United Presbyterian Church and enjoyed watching television, birds and lighted outdoor decorations.  Mrs. Engel especially enjoyed the company of her cat “Morris”.

Survivors include her husband Louis J. Engel of Silver Creek, two daughters, Linda (Stephen) Douglas, of Silver Creek, Bev Engel, of Arkwright, two sons Robert (Korrie) Engel, of Fredonia, Rodney “Char” Engel, of Arkwright, three sisters, Carol (Erva) Garnsey, of Silver Creek, Marilyn Ralph, of Derby, Dora (Donald) Gage, of Silver Creek and a brother, Ronald (Diane) Cross, of Silver Creek.  Also surviving are a sister in law Irene Welch, 8 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and several nieces & nephews.  Besides her parents she was predeceased by an infant sister Beverly Cross and a brother Marvin Cross.

There will be no visitation observed and Private Services will be at the convenience of family, with Rev. Thomas Burian, pastor of First United Presbyterian Church, Silver Creek, officiating.  Interment will be in Evergreen Lawn Cemetery, Town of Hanover.

The family suggests memorial donations may be made either to the Northern Chautauqua Canine Rescue, 7540 North Gale Street, Westfield, NY 14787 or to Hanover Hose Co. #1 % Steve Peters, 11919 Hanover Road, Silver Creek, NY 14136 or to the Charity of one’s choice.  Arrangements are by Riles & Woolley Funeral Home, Forestville.  To post condolences go to www.rilesandwoollefuneralhome.com.

    Linda and family, I am so sorry to read that your mom has passed on. May the Lord bless you all as you grieve her loss. Losing a mom leaves such a huge void in our lives for many years to come. I pray you will all find the comfort to deal with the loss. God Bless!
