Obituary Notice- David P. Holland

HollandDFORESTVILLE:  David P. Holland, 77, of Prospect Road, Forestville, died Wednesday, November 12th, 2014 after a 5 to 6 year battle with ALS, at his residence.  He was born in Brownsville, NY on December 6, 1936, the son of the late William and Violet M. (Hogan) Holland.

Mr. Holland served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, from 1960 to 1965 and he worked as a Sergeant for the Fredonia Police Department, retiring in 1997.  Mr. Holland became an ordained minister, was a member of the Forestville Wesleyan Church and loved to hunt, fish and be outdoors.

Survivors include his wife Myung-Sun “Lee” (Yi) Holland, of Forestville, whom he married on January 9, 1963, a son, David W. Holland, of Fredonia, six brothers, Bernard (Patricia) Holland, of South Dayton, Charles (Faith) Holland, of Tucson, AZ, William (Nancy) Holland, & Howard (Linda) Holland, both of Yakima, WA, Richard Holland, of Fredonia, Robert Holland, of Watertown, three sisters, Mary Milam, of Tucson, AZ, Ella Skinner, of Carlsbad, NM and Esther Horton, of Conewango Valley.  Also surviving are 2 grandchildren Brandon VanGiesen, Megan Holland, 2 great grandchildren Annabella Kaczor, Owen VanGiesen and several nieces & nephews.  Besides his parents he was predeceased by 2 brothers Arthur & Jack Holland and by 4 sisters Elenor Bidwell, Helen McDonald, Edith Martinowicz and Evelyn Campbell.

Friends are welcome to call at the Riles & Woolley Funeral Home, 39 Main Street, Forestville on Sunday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm, from where Funeral Services will be held Monday morning at 11 o’clock, with Rev. Bruce M. Ellis, pastor of the Forestville Wesleyan Church, officiating.  Interment will follow in Forestville Cemetery.

    Our deepest sympathy and condolences to Lee and David Holland and all those close to David Paul Holland. David was a very special person and will be forever in our memories and our hearts. He was strong beyond human strength and a very real and caring man, with a strong love for the lord God. We will miss him dearly and will remember him with love.
