Obituary Notice- Julius A. Ferry

FerryJVERSAILLES:  Julius A. Ferry, 96, of Main Street, Versailles, formerly of Perrysburg, died Wednesday, August 6th, 2014 at Gowanda Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Gowanda, following a short illness.  Mr. Ferry was born in the Town of Hanover, on April 1, 1918, the son of the late Gern and Minnie (Wilkes) Ferry, Sr.

A life-long area resident, he attended the former Forestville High School, owned & operated a dairy farm on Hooker Hill Road, Perrysburg & then had a partnership with his son, the late Jare A. Ferry, Sr.  He also at one time worked for the former American Locomotive in Dunkirk, in the boiler manufacturing section.  Mr. Ferry was a member of the Perrysburg Fire Department and the Perrysburg Conservation Club.  He enjoyed dancing & playing cards.

Survivors include a son, James Greg (Marilyn) Ferry, of State College, PA and a brother, Gern (Elinor) Ferry, Jr., of Forestville.  Also surviving are his loving companion of 25 years Maria Fort, daughter-in-law Bonnie Ferry, 6 grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.  Besides his parents and his son, he was predeceased by his loving wife Cora (Kniese) Ferry, who died May 24, 1987, grandson Jare A. Ferry, Jr., 3 sisters Minerva Wilson, Loda Metzler, Lucille Cooper and 4 brothers Truman, Stanley, Donald & Howard Ferry.

Friends are welcome to call at the Riles & Woolley Funeral Home, 39 Main Street, Forestville on Saturday morning from 10-12, from where Funeral Services will follow at 12 o’clock, with Rev. David W. Watson, officiating.  Private Interment will be in Cottage Cemetery.
