Obituary Notice – Burt L. Seeley

Allegany, NY: Burt L. Seeley, 87, formerly of Irving, died Sunday, March 15, 2026 at Olean General Hospital. He was born in the Town of Hanover on September 15, 1938, the son of the late Harvey and Isabelle (Robinson) Seeley, Sr.

  Burt attended Silver Creek Central School before serving in the US Navy on the ship “Intrepid”. He later attended the former Southern Missionary College in Collegedale, TN to be a Pastor and worked as a Truck Driver for many years later in life. At one time, Burt was the Chief of Police for the Town of Hanover and was a former member of the Perrysburg Seventh-Day Adventist Church. Burt was active at the Senior Center and liked to volunteer & travel with his late wife “Bobbie”. He enjoyed camping, puttering around his yard and gardening, to always stay active. He loved his cats.

  Survivors include two daughters; Lisa (Mike) Johnson of Litchfield, MN, Laurie Weatherly of Des Moines, IA, a son Andrew (Brittany) Seeley of Granger, IA, two sisters; Ethel Frary of Newfane, Rose Seeley of Gowanda and a brother David Seeley of Gowanda. Also surviving are six grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and several nieces & nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his wife Roberta Seeley, who died on January 2, 2022 and his five siblings; Harvey E. Seeley, Jr., Ruth Seeley Hilliker, Lanie Reinschmidt, Daniel Seeley & Jesse Seeley.

  Friends are welcome to call at Riles & Woolley Funeral Home, 39 Main Street, Forestville on Saturday (3/21) from 2:30 – 3 PM from where funeral services will be held at 3 o’clock with Pastor Johan Esteban Paredes, pastor of the Perrysburg Seventh-Day Adventist Church, officiating. Interment will be at the convenience of the family in Rathbun Cemetery, Town of Hanover, during the summer.

    I was very sad to hear Burt had passed away ,he was my Father-in-law for many years and the Grandfather to my daughter April. Without question Burt was a Christian and n his having has now joined his eternal rest with his loved ones in heaven. I have so many great memories of him his humor and all the things we did together as a family. We canoeed down rivers together, camped and spent numerous times motorcycling together up to Steamboatrock for Sunday breakfasts. Burt always made me laugh his stories were always intriguing and funny. I missed him when he was gone and always looked forward to the next time he would be home and that possibility we would go play shuffle board of visit an amusment parkI or maybe just grill out and enjoy time together. ‘m sad for his family and all who new him and will miss him but so greatfull for all the good memories he left me with. Made whole again and forever in His hands he rest.
