Obituary Notice – Sean W. Murphy

murphysFREDONIA:  Sean W. Murphy, 58, of Spring Street Fredonia, died Friday, December 30th, 2016 at his residence.  He was born in Dunkirk on December 8, 1958, the son of James “Turk” J. Murphy, of Dunkirk and the late Margalo “Maude” (Merkt) Murphy.

Mr. Murphy was a graduate of Dunkirk High School, Class of 1977, attended Edinboro University for 2 years, transferred to Fredonia State University and graduated in 1981.  He worked as a Chief Lab Technician with the former Niagara Mohawk, Dunkirk, starting in 1983 and retiring in 2016 from NRG Dunkirk Operations, Inc., after over 30 years of service.  He previously worked as a Police Officer for both Dunkirk & Fredonia Police Departments for a total of 5 years.  Mr. Murphy was a volunteer fireman and life-member of both the Pioneer Hook & Ladder #1, Dunkirk and the Fenner Hose Co. #2, Fredonia.  He was also a member of many social clubs in Dunkirk, liked to travel and loved his family.

Surviving besides his father are his wife Jody R. (Sanders) Murphy, of Fredonia, whom he married on May 2, 1986, two sons Sean James Murphy, of Las Vegas, NV; Shane Raymond Murphy, of Bar Harbor, ME; two brothers, James (Gayle) Murphy, II, of Fredonia; and Kevin Murphy, of Dunkirk.  Also surviving are nephews & nieces Jim Murphy, III, Colleen (Tyler) Mihalic, Ronald (Kelly) Duliba, Christy (Ben) Muck, Matthew Duliba and Zachary Sanders.

Friends are welcome to call at Riles & Woolley Funeral Home, 39 Main Street, Forestville on Tuesday, January 3rd from 4-8 pm.  No funeral services will be observed.  Private Interment will be at the convenience of the family Perrysburg Cemetery.

    Mr. Murphy. Very sorry to hear about Sean, he was a good man. My condolences to you and the rest of Sean’s family. Also, thanks for coming to my Mom’s (Pat Johnson’s) funeral last week. Sincerely, Bob Johnson

    Sean and I graduated from Dunkirk together in 1977. He was a great guy! Very funny and always a good friend. I am so sorry for all of the family he leaves behind. May God Bless you all in the days ahead…..Barb
