Obituary Notice- Dorothy D. Shadle

WILLIAMSVILLE:  Dorothy D. Shadle, 98, of Bassett Manor, Williamsville, formerly of Forestville, died Tuesday, November 20th, at Williamsville Suburban LLC-N.  Mrs. Shadle was born in Buffalo, on March 28, 1914, the daughter of the late Andrew and Louisa (Friedman) Russell.

She and her late husband Sherman Shadle, who died November 10, 1979, owned & operated the former Shadle Mill in Forestville, she also co-owned & operated the former Hilltop Poultry in Forestville and owned several farms in the area.  Mrs. Shadle was a member of the Order of Eastern Star Forestville Chapter #247 and a former member of the Forestville United Methodist Church.  She formerly enjoyed collecting antiques.

Survivors include several nieces & nephews and great nieces & nephews.  Besides her parents and husband she was predeceased by 6 sisters Madeline “Russ” Sullivan, Pearl Harrigan, Mildred Westfield, Margaret Colbert, Irene Rosell & Marion Fradin, and by 4 brothers Claire Rosell, Ray Rosell, Albert Russell & Howard Russell.

There will be no visitation observed.  Memorial Services will be held Saturday morning, December 15th at 11 o’clock, from the Forestville United Methodist Church, 3 Park Street, Forestville, with Rev. James D. Hankey officiating.  Private Interment will be at the convenience of the family in Forestville Cemetery.

The family suggests memorial donations may be made either to the Forestville United Methodist Church, 3 Park Street, Forestville, NY 14062 or to the Order of Eastern Star, Forestville Chapter #247, %Kathy Parker, Treasurer, 596 Waterman Road, Forestville, NY 14062.  Arrangements are by Riles & Woolley Funeral Home, Forestville.  To post condolences go to www.rilesandwoolleyfuneralhome.com.

    Aunt Dottie, we will miss you. You leave us with many memories of you and Uncle Sherm. My Mom, Jane, always loved her sister-in -law. You both had the best laughs at the reunions!

    One of my favorite childhood memories was visiting Shadle’s Feed Mill. Mrs.Shadle was always very nice to me. May God bless her.
