Obituary Notice – Ronald A. Sobecki

Forestville: Ronald A. Sobecki, 90, of Forestville, died Friday, February 28, 2025 at his residence surrounded by family. He was born in Dunkirk on March 1, 1934, the son of the late Constantine and Jeannette (Pleszewski) Sobecki.

   He was a graduate of Dunkirk High School and Fredonia State College.  Ron served in the Army during the Korean War as a Corporal.  He worked as a Principal for Gallup-McKinley County Schools, Gallup, NM and previously worked as a Teacher in Tuscon, AZ for sixteen years and later taught in Fort Worth, TX. After retirement, he moved to New Hampshire, where he drove school bus part-time. Ronald enjoyed playing golf and riding motorcycles.

   Survivors include a daughter Allison (Ronald) DeGolier, of Dunkirk, two sons Steven (Kim) Sobecki, of Tarpon Springs, FL, John (Rhonda) Sobecki of Colorado Springs, CO, and a sister Margaret “Margie” Workoff, of Forestville. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, six great grandchildren and several nieces & nephews.

   The family would like to give a special Thank You to Brett & Heidi Miller for their dedicated care during their family time of need. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his wife Jeanne (Fuss) Sobecki, whom he married on August 6, 1955 in Ashtabula, OH and who died December 14, 2021, a daughter Elizabeth McDivitt, two brothers James & Jerry Sobecki and a sister Joanne Smyers.

   Private Interment will be at the convenience of the family in the Forestville Cemetery.
