Obituary Notice – Robert G. Bateman

FORESTVILLE:  Robert G. Bateman, 82, of Prospect Street, Forestville, passed away Wednesday, October 16th, 2024 at Buffalo General Medical Center, following a lengthy illness.  He was born in Wendell, ID on July 26, 1942, the son of the late Ivan Bateman and Dora (Conklin) Doster.

  Robert was a graduate of Sparks Nevada High School, Class of 1963 and served in the US Navy on the USS Caliente during the Vietnam War earning 3 bronze stars.  He worked as a Maintenance Man for the former Ralston Purina in Dunkirk, for approximately 24 years.  Robert was a member of the Lakeshore Street Rods, enjoyed music, classic cars and was a Sabres & Bills fan.

  Survivors include his wife Bonnie L. (Klepfer) Bateman of Forestville, whom he married on July 29, 1993, in the Town of Hanover, two daughters, Virginia Brown, of NC; Annette Bentley, of NY; two sons Scott Bateman, of PA; Martin (Donna) Bateman, of NC; a step daughter, Laurie (Shawn McDonnell) Kamery, of NY; two step sons Brian (Sarah) Kamery, of TX; Michael (Marcy) Kamery, of NC; two sisters, Joyce Peck, of ID; Lynn Barnes, of KY; and a brother, Owen Bateman, of ID. Also surviving are several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces & nephews.  Besides his parents he was predeceased by a son Steven Bateman and a brother Jesse Bateman.

   Friends are welcome to call at Riles & Woolley Funeral Home, 39 Main Street, Forestville on Monday evening from 6-9 PM, from where Funeral Services will be held Tuesday morning at 11 o’clock with Dylan Hawkins, Assistant Pastor of the Forestville Wesleyan Church, officiating.  Interment will follow in Forestville Cemetery, where Military Graveside services will be conducted by members of J. Carter Knapp American Legion Post #953, Forestville.

  The family suggests memorials may be made either to Roswell Park Alliance Foundation, Roswell Park Cancer Institute, PO Box 631, Buffalo, NY 14240-0631 or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
