CHERRY CREEK:  Madeline J. Lucas, 95, of Rt. 83 Cherry Creek, passed away Sunday, September 4th, 2022, surrounded by her loving family.  She was born in Dunkirk on September 19, 1926, the daughter of the late LaVern and Bernice (Forester) Deering.

  Madeline attended Forestville Central School and worked for the former Bedford Canning Factory in Sheridan, during World War II.  She was a member of South Dayton Free Methodist Church and was previously a member of the Forestville Wesleyan Church.  Madeline was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother & great-great grandmother who loved to crochet, bake and read.

  Survivors include two daughters, Carolynn (Gerald) Case, of Forestville; Darlene Anderson, of Dunkirk; three sons Richard (Jean) Lucas, of South Dayton; James (Marge) Lucas, of Dunkirk; Ronald (Debra) Lucas, of South Dayton; twin sisters, Minnie Gollnitz, of Fredonia; and Marie Derbey, of Jamestown.  Also surviving are thirteen grandchildren, twenty-nine great grandchildren, six great-great grandchildren and many nieces & nephews.  Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband of 65 years, Frank J. Lucas, whom she married on October 12, 1945 at Parcell’s Corners and who died January 9, 2011, a grandson Aaron Lucas, five sisters Eve Springer, Eldean Cook, Gertrude “Virginia” Pfluger, Juanita Fluker, Reva Luczkowiak and infant twin brothers.

  Friends are welcome to call at Riles & Woolley Funeral Home, 39 Main Street, Forestville on Wednesday from 4-7 PM, from where Funeral Services will be held Thursday morning at 11 o’clock.  Interment will follow in Arkwright Summit Cemetery, Town of Arkwright.

  The family suggests memorials may be made either to Chautauqua Hospice & Palliative Care, 20 W. Fairmount Avenue, Lakewood, NY 14750 or to South Dayton Free Methodist Church, 327 Pine Street, South Dayton, NY 14138.
