Obituary Notice – Linda A. “Lynn” Brown

DUNKIRK:  Linda A. “Lynn” Brown, 80, of Market Street, Dunkirk, formerly of South Dayton, passed away Monday, May 24th, 2021 at Brooks Memorial Hospital, following a brief illness.  She was born in Union, NY on December 18, 1940, the daughter of the late Alfred and Roselen (Spencer) DeGraw.

  Lynn was a graduate of South Side High School, Elmira, NY, Class of 1959.  She worked for the former Himelein’s Dept. Store in Gowanda, was the owner-operator of the former Village Restaurant in South Dayton and provided Child Care for many years in the South Dayton area, caring for over 100 children-who lovingly referred to her as “Aunt Lynnie”.

  Lynn was very proud of being a former EMT with the South Dayton Fire Department for many years.  She was an avid gardener, enjoyed cooking, was an incredible artist- who made wonderful flower arrangements, loved to draw, paint, do needlepoint & cross-stitch.  Lynn had a great knowledge of trivia, playing Jeopardy & Wheel of Fortune, loved camping and spending time with her grandchildren & great grandson.

  Survivors include her husband Richard Brown of Dunkirk, whom she married on March 30, 1984, in South Dayton, three daughters, Lisa (Kevin) Valentine, Colleen (Tim) Brunswick, and Jennifer (Rick) Miller, all of Fredonia; a step son, Dan (Trudie) Brown, of Rochester; and a step daughter, Kathy Ellis.  Also surviving are eight grandchildren- Jillian (Shaun) Ryan, Kaleigh (Kobe DeJesus) Brunswick, McKenna Miller, Mason Miller, Alicia (Ryan) Singer, Amanda Valentine, Brendan Brown, Evan Brown, a great grandson Deacan Ryan and her beloved dog “Willow”.

  Friends are welcome to call at Riles & Woolley Funeral Home, 39 Main Street, Forestville on Thursday evening from 6-8 PM.  Funeral Services will be Private and Interment will be in Villenova Cemetery, Town of Villenova.
