SILVER CREEK:  Sandra J. (Ormsby) George, 84, of Silver Creek, passed away Thursday, March 25th, 2021 following a lengthy illness.  She was born in Buffalo, on August 21, 1936, a daughter of the late Stanley Ormsby and Elinor (Gessner) Ormsby Nuwer.

A homemaker, Sandy attended schools in Buffalo.  She worked as a Receptionist in the Radiology Department for the former Lake Shore Hospital, Irving, retiring in 1999.  Sandy was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Silver Creek, and a member of the Trinity Ladies Guild.  She was a kind, loving person who always greeted everyone with a smile.  Sandy was happiest when she was surrounded by her family.

Survivors include her husband of 64 years Frederick L. George, of Silver Creek, a son, Kevin (Kathy) George, of Acworth, GA; a daughter in law Karen George of Fredonia, and a sister, Deborah (Robert) Miller, of Waynesville, North Carolina.  Also surviving are three loving grandchildren Jimi George of Athens Georgia, Jessica (Nate) Miller of Fredonia, Kelsey (Nick) George of Ballston Lake, New York and great granddaughter Ava Miller.  Besides her parents she was predeceased by a son Jeffrey George, infant grandson Derek George and a brother Russell Ormsby.

Due to COVID concerns, Sandy’s funeral service will be private.  The family suggests memorials may be made either to Trinity Lutheran Church, 15 Porter Avenue, Silver Creek, NY 14136 or to the Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) Association, PO Box 37022, Boone, IA 50037-0022.

    To Kevin and family:

Our hearts go out to you and your family during this very difficult few months of losing your brother Jeff and your mother.

I live in PA and have not seen your mom for many years but I do remember her and your dad…they were both very warm and kind.

I also remember that you looked very much like your mom (light hair, smile, chin).

Your parent’s monument is close to my parents (Faith and Edgar Elliott) at Mt. Carmel.

    Take care,

Lori(Elliott)Wannop and family(Chuck, Collin, Keenan and Elliott)

Thanks for the comments Lori. Good to hear from you. It’s been a tough few months for us. I know they both a free from pain now and knowing that sustains me. Praying my dad will be ok thru this ordeal. Heading up to SC next week to be with him.

    Uncle Fred and family,
What a wonderful woman Aunt Sandy was. Sending our condolences from the Ormsby family in Akron.
It was also sad to hear about Jeff – he had e-mailed us in December letting us know Aunt Sandy was in a home.
We pray for your loss and we pray for God to strengthen you in this time.
Our deepest sympathy to you and your family,
    God Bless,
    Russ and Kim & family
