Obituary Notice – Nicholas Andin

DUNKIRK:  Nicholas Andin, 94, of East 6th Street, Dunkirk, died Monday, November 2nd, 2020 at Absolut Care of Westfield, following a short illness.  He was born in Dunkirk, on July 22, 1926, the son of the late David and Anna (Dayoub) Andin.

  Nicholas served in the U.S. Navy as a Quartermaster Third Class in WW II and was involved with D-Day.  He owned & operated Andinco Properties Dunkirk, for 40 years and also owned & operated Andinco Trucking of Dunkirk and was part owner & longtime employee of A. Sam & Sons, Dunkirk.  Nicholas was a member of St. John the Baptist Episcopal Church, Dunkirk the Shriners, Forest Lodge F&AM #166, Fredonia, at one time serving as Grand Master and was involved with the child ID program at the Chautauqua County Fair, the Dunkirk Lighthouse and the Dunkirk Historical Society.

  Survivors include two daughters, Joanne (Daniel) Stevens, of Tarboro, NC; Deborah Washington, of Dunkirk; two sons Nicholas (Beverly) Andin, of Dunkirk; James (Lisa) Andin, of Brocton; and a sister, Dorothy Hanman, of AZ.  Also surviving are eighteen grandchildren, several grandchildren, great grandchildren and nieces & nephews.  Besides his parents he was predeceased by his wife Betty (Keopke) Andin, whom he married April 12, 1946 in Dunkirk, son Clifford Andin, daughter Anna Raynor, two sisters Jean and Elsie Andin and two brothers Harry and David “Jr.” Andin.

  A Memorial Service will be held Saturday afternoon, November 14th, at 1 o’clock, from St. John the Baptist Episcopal Church, 16 West Fourth Street, Dunkirk, with Rev. Helen Sam officiating.  Due to COVID restrictions and seating capacity, it is requested that reservations be made with his son, James (673-5872).

  The family suggests memorials may be made to Shriner’s Hospitals for Children, 1645 West 8th Street, Erie, PA 16505.  Arrangements are by Riles & Woolley Funeral Home, Forestville.  To post condolences or memories go to www.rilesandwoolleyfuneralhome.com.

    I’m so sorry for the loss of your father and grandpa,I didn’t realize he passed away. I was one of Nicks Sr’s tenants many years ago and he was and still is the best landlord I ever had. God bless you all and Nick I miss you always and forever. 💕
