Obituary Notice – Ronald S. Skelly

SkellyRoDUNKIRK:  Ronald S.  Skelly, 80, of Main Street, Dunkirk, died Thursday, April 5th, 2018 at Brooks Memorial Hospital, following a lengthy illness.  He was born in Gowanda, on May 10, 1937, the son of the late Samuel P. and Helen (Hafner) Skelly.

Mr. Skelly attended the former Markhams School House in 1946 and worked as a Maintenance Man for the former Red Wing Company, Fredonia, for 20 years.  Mr. Skelly also at one time worked for the former Village of Forestville in the Streets & Water Department.  He was a “handyman” who donated a lot of time to rebuild the inside of the Westfield Fire Hall and did work for anyone who asked him.  Mr. Skelly was also a former member of the Forestville Fire Department.

Survivors include a daughter, Sherrie Fisher, of Jamestown; four sons Tim (Debbie) Skelly, of Fredonia; Ronald (Michele) Skelly, of Dansville; Edward (Becky) Skelly, of Dunkirk; John (Amanda) Skelly, of Dunkirk; step daughter, Rachel Benn, of Buffalo; step son Roger (Lisa) Benn, of Schnectady, NY; one sister, Betty Rizzo, of Silver Creek; and a brother, Charles Skelly, of Forestville.  Also surviving are 17 Grandchildren, 3 Step Grandchildren, 9 Great Grandchildren and several nieces & nephews.  Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his 1st wife Alice (Jacobs) Skelly, his 2nd wife Rhonda (Kleinschmidt) Skelly, whom he married May 28, 1995 and who died April 17, 2007, a grandson Jacob Skelly, 2 sisters Janet Pilon and Ruth Ann Southwick and a brother Donald Skelly.

There will be no visitation observed.  A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, April 28th at 11 o’clock from the Forestville United Methodist Church, 3 Park Street, Forestville, with Rev. Grace Warren, officiating.  Interment will be at the convenience of the family in Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Silver Creek.

    I’m sorry to hear the passing of Uncle Ronnie. My condolences to the family. Remembering the good ole days Uncle Ronnie when we all got together.prayers to the family.
