Obituary Notice – Jane Herrington

FORESTVILLE:  Jane Herrington, 92, of Gibbs Road, Forestville, died Thursday, June 15th, 2017 at Gowanda Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, following a short illness.  She was born in Hays, Kansas on August 9, 1924, the daughter of the late Wilson and Bertha (Johnson) Obley, Sr.  She was a graduate of Hays High School, in Hays Kansas, Class of 1942.

Mrs. Herrington worked at the former Beech Aircraft in Wichita, Kansas as a Radial Drill Operator, as a Head Cook for the former JN Adam Developmental Center, Perrysburg, for 25 years and also owned and operated a grape farm on Mackinaw Road, in the Town of Perrysburg.  She was a lifetime member of Gowanda American Legion Post #409.

Surviving are her Good friends Greg & Cathy Place, of Forestville and several nieces & nephews.  Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Norman J. Herrington whom she married March 4, 1944 in Hays, Kansas and who died December 29, 2010, by 3 sisters Catherine McCormick, Mary Louise Denning, Thelma Jo Leikam, and 2 brothers Wilson Obley Jr., Melvin Obley.

Friends are welcome to call at Riles & Woolley Funeral Home, 39 Main Street, Forestville on Monday morning, from 10-11 am, from where Funeral Services will follow at 11 o’clock, with Pastor Grace Warren, of the Forestville United Methodist Church, officiating.  Interment will follow in Balltown Cemetery, Town of Hanover.
