Obituary Notice – Stanley Gizowski, Jr.

FORESTVILLE:  Stanley Gizowski, Jr., 73, of Straight Road, Forestville, passed away Thursday, March 9th, 2023 at his residence, following a short illness with his family by his side.  He was born in Dunkirk on September 17, 1949, the son of the late Stanley and Ann (Rounds) Gizowski, Sr.

  Stanley retired as a Supervisor for Dunkirk Specialty Steel, LLC Dunkirk, after 52 years, where he started out working as a Roller.  He currently worked as a consultant to them until July 2022.

  Stanley was a member of Faith Community of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel-St. Rose of Lima Church, Forestville, the Northern Chautauqua Conservation Club and the Dom Polski Club, both in Dunkirk.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing & spending time with his family.

  Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Judith A. (Levandoski) Gizowski, of Forestville, whom he married on July 13, 1968, in St. Rose of Lima RC Church, Forestville, two daughters, Stacey Mierzwa, of Forestville; Christy (Joseph) Giaimo, of Grand Island; a son, Stanley A. (Sonia Ortolano) Gizowski, of Forestville; two sisters, Veronica “Dolly” (David) Curll, of Florida; Diantha (Warren) Wolfe, of Ohio; and a brother, Alex (Carol) Gizowski, of Forestville.  Also surviving are five grandchildren, two step grandchildren and several nieces & nephews.  Besides his parents he was predeceased by a granddaughter Faith E. Mierzwa who died October 28, 2020 and son in law Dennis L. Howe who died December 16, 2021.

  Friends are welcome to call at Riles & Woolley Funeral Home, 39 Main Street, Forestville on Wednesday evening, March 15th, from 6-8 PM.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday morning at 10 o’clock from Faith Community of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel-St. Rose of Lima Church, Center Street, Forestville, with Rev. Daniel Fiebelkorn, officiating.  Private Interment will be at the convenience of the family St. Joseph Cemetery Town of Sheridan, NY.

  The family suggests memorials may be made either to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to the Forestville Fire Department, Inc., PO Box 299, Forestville, NY 14062.
