Obituary Notice – Martha Lucas

SHERIDAN:  Martha Lucas, 87, of King Road, Forestville, was lifted up to heaven, Wednesday, February 22nd, 2017 at Brooks Memorial Hospital, Dunkirk.  She was born in Dunkirk, on July 5, 1929, the daughter of the late John and Anna (Kupiec) Urbanik.

Mrs. Lucas helped run many family farms in Forestville, then in Sheridan.  Her talents, which she lovingly shared with others, included knitting, sewing, needlework, crafts and doing crossword puzzles.  She often told stories of growing up to eager listeners at family gatherings.  Mrs. Lucas was an extraordinary cook and baker, always making sure no visitor left her kitchen hungry.  Her strong Christian faith was evident in her daily life and kind deeds.  Friends and family were blessed to know her and she will be greatly missed.

Survivors include her husband Charles W. Lucas, of Sheridan, whom she married 68 years ago on June 5, 1948, two sons Steven (Susan) Lucas, of Sheridan; Daniel Lucas, of New Jersey; two daughters, Ann Lucas, of Pennsylvania; Mary (Charles) Mills, of Fredonia; a sister, Adele Anzalone, of Buffalo; and a brother, Edward Urbanik, of Dunkirk.  Also surviving are 6 grandchildren Steven (Dianna) Lucas, Jr. of South Dayton, Andrew Constantinides of Florida, Damon (Beth) Constantinides of PA, April (Carl) Kellerman of Fredonia, Jasmine & Aurora Mills of Fredonia, 3 great grandchildren Maddie & Katie Kellerman and Jacobia Constantinides and several nieces & nephews.  Besides her parents she was predeceased by 2 brothers Joseph and Walter Urbanik and 4 sisters Helen Urbanik, Katherine Klocko, Sophie Loeb and Victoria Ryby.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday afternoon at 1:30 pm from Harvest Chapel Free Methodist Church, 39 Matteson Street, Fredonia, NY, with Rev. Jim LaBarr officiating.

Private Interment will be at the convenience of the family St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Town of Sheridan, NY.

Arrangements are by Riles & Woolley Funeral Home, Forestville.
