Obituary Notice – Doris L. Heath

SOUTH DAYTON:  Doris L. Heath, 90, of Mill Street, South Dayton, died Wednesday, May 27th, 2015 at Absolut at Dunkirk, following a lengthy illness.  She was born in Niagara Falls, NY on December 28, 1924, the daughter of the late Clarence Brewster and Frances (Van Aernam) Purdy.

She was a graduate of the former Cattaraugus High School, Class of 1940 and worked for the former M. Wile & Co and eventually retired from the former Amalgamated Clothing & Textile, Buffalo in 1995 as a Union Manager.  She was recognized for 20 years of service with the IBA.  Mrs. Heath was a past member of the former Queen of the Valley Rebekah Lodge and a member of the South Dayton Fire Belles.  She loved animals, reading, crocheting and doing puzzles.

Survivors include a son, Francis (Ruth) Heath, a daughter, Shirly Heath, both of South Dayton, and a half-brother, Ralph MacVittie, of Tonawanda.  Also surviving are 2 grandchildren Travis (Angela) Heath and Teresa Heath and 2 great grandchildren Maya Quinn & River Heath.  Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband Donovan E. Heath, who died September 11, 1995, by a daughter Donna M. Heath and a half-brother Larry MacVittie.

Friends are welcome to call at the Riles & Woolley Funeral Home, 39 Main Street, Forestville on Sunday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm, from where Funeral Services will be held at 11 o’clock on Monday, with Pastor Matt Wittenbrook, of the South Dayton Free Methodist Church, officiating.  Interment will follow in Villenova Cemetery, South Dayton.
