Obituary Notice – Marshall O. Brown

FORESTVILLE:  Marshall O. Brown, 85, a resident of St. Columban’s on the Lake Retirement Home, Silver Creek, formerly of Hopper Road, Forestville died Monday, November 18th, 2024 at UPMC Chautauqua Hospital, Jamestown.  He was born in Silver Creek on July 3, 1939, the son of the late Cecil A. and Ella S. (Summerton) Brown.

  Marshall attended Forestville Central School and grew up on the family dairy farm on Hopper Road, Forestville, where he eventually owned & operated as the fourth generation.  After retirement from the farm, he worked as an Equipment Operator at Gowanda Country Club, Collins, for 26 years.

  Marshall was a former member of the Holstein Breeder Association and a past member of the former Hanover Grange, Forestville.  He participated in many fairs, both local & state, where he was Champion Showman many times in 4-H and became a great cattle judge.  Marshall enjoyed NASCAR, country music and football.  He especially enjoyed being with his loving family and the people at St. Columban’s on the Lake, where he received excellent personal care.

  Survivors include two sons Mark (Susan) Brown, of Orlando, FL; Lawrence Brown, of Forestville; two step daughters, Teresa Daniels, of Erie, PA; Jacqueline Daniels, of Westfield; and a step son, Steven (Petra) Daniels, of Besigheim, Germany.  Also surviving are one grandchild Taylor Brown and several nieces & nephews.  Besides his parents he was predeceased by his wife Virginia R. (Dawley) Brown, whom he married on February 14, 1990 in Christ Chapel Wesleyan Church, Silver Creek and who died February 13, 2014, a son Ronald C. Brown, who died September 12, 1982, two brothers James A. Brown who died April 26, 1979, Warren K. Brown who died March 13, 1996 and a sister Karen L. Ellis who died June 6, 2021.

  Friends are welcome to call at Riles & Woolley Funeral Home, 39 Main Street, Forestville on Friday from 4-7 PM from where Funeral Services will be held Saturday morning at 11 o’clock, with Rev. Michael Pollock, pastor of Gage Chapel Community Church, Smith Mills, officiating.  Interment will follow in Pioneer Cemetery, Forestville.
