Obituary Notice – Jerry W. Towne

FORESTVILLE:  Jerry W. Towne, 81, of Hopper Road, Forestville, passed away Tuesday, December 5th, 2023 at Brooks Memorial Hospital, Dunkirk, following a short illness.  He was born in Jamestown on December 23, 1941, the son of the late Howard E. and Ruby (Perkins) Towne, Sr.

  Jerry worked as a Motor Equipment Operator for the Town of Hanover Highway Department, Silver Creek for 27 years, retiring in 2000. He owned & operated a beef farm on Hopper Road in Forestville and worked with his father doing excavating and many other jobs.

  Jerry was a member of the John Deere 2 Cylinder Tractor Club and former CB Radio Club. He enjoyed pulling and building tractors, hunting and attending his granddaughter’s events.

  Survivors include his wife Ruth (McIntyre) Towne of Forestville, whom he married on November 4th, 1961, in Gowanda, two daughters, Kamie (Paul Gadra) Fields, of Dunkirk; Becky (Mark) Ostrye, of Forestville; and a sister, Sylvia Towne, of Fredonia. Also surviving are two grandchildren Lacey (A.J.) Mihalko, Brooke (Nick Zielinski) Ostrye and 1 niece.  Besides his parents he was predeceased by a brother Howard Towne, Jr.

  Funeral Services are private and interment will be in Villenova Cemetery, Town of Villenova.

    I’ve known Jerry for many years.
    I’m so happy for the visit we had with him about 4 years ago.

    So very sorry for your loss . Jerry was good man. When I worked for county highway we worked with the town alot. Great guy to work with and get knowledge from. And obviously my neighbor my whole life. RIP Jerry.
