Obituary Notice – Ronald H. Curtin

FORESTVILLE:  Ronald H. Curtin, 88, of Straight Road, Forestville, formerly of Buffalo, died Monday, May 8th, 2023 in the Hospice area at the VA Medical Center, Buffalo.  He was born in Buffalo on March 27, 1935, the son of the late John and Catherine (Rydzyk) Curtin, Sr.

  Ron was a graduate of McKinley Vocational High School, Class of 1954 and served in the U.S. Army as a Corporal.  He worked as a tool & die maker for both Graphic Controls Corporation Buffalo, for 17 years and prior to that he worked for the former Kinetic Dispersion of Buffalo for 26 years.

  Ron was a member of Faith Community of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel-St. Rose of Lima Church, Forestville, was a volunteer for the American Red Cross Disaster Team, a former Boy Scout Leader, Troop #173, for St. Albert’s in North Tonawanda and at one time was very active with the Shawnee Marching Indians with the Shawnee Fire Dept. in Sanborn, NY.  He drove and delivered cars for both Shults and Valone Ford.

  Ron loved to travel, enjoyed Florida and loved the outdoors.  He was a “city boy who liked the farm.”

 Survivors include his wife of 63 years Beatrice H. (Houck) Curtin of Forestville, a daughter, Kathleen (Randy) Hook, of Lockport; two sons Daniel (Megan Fournier) Curtin, of Forestville; and John Curtin, of Boulder City, NV.  Also surviving are four grandchildren; John Michael (Kayla) Curtin, Molly Jane (Alex) Marjie, Melissa Hook and Kyle Hook, four great grandchildren; Skyler Curtin, Raelynn Marjie, Lilianna Grace Curtin, Robert and several nieces & nephews.  Besides his parents he was predeceased by a brother John Curtin, Jr. a grandson Christopher Curtin and a daughter in law Marie Curtin.

  Friends are welcome to call at Riles & Woolley Funeral Home, 39 Main Street, Forestville on Wednesday, May 17th from 4-8 PM.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday morning at 10 o’clock from Faith Community of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel-St. Rose of Lima Church, Center Street, Forestville, with Rev. Daniel Fiebelkorn officiating.  Interment will be at the convenience of the family in Abbey Cemetery, Town of Arkwright. Graveside military service will be conducted by members of J. Carter Knapp American Legion Post #953, Forestville.

  In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made either to Abbey Cemetery Association, 2063 Straight Road, Forestville, NY 14062 or to Forestville Fire Dept., Inc., PO Box 299, Forestville, NY 14062.

    You will be greatly missed. I wanted to thank you and Be once more for attending our son’s memorial service a few years ago. It meant a lot to both Julie and I that you made the time to be with us. I will always miss you my friend.
