OLCOTT, NY: Janet E. Cooper, 72, of Leonard Court, Olcott, NY passed away Wednesday, March 22nd, 2023 at Mount St. Mary’s Hospital, Lewiston, following a short illness. She was born in Lockport on July 11, 1950, the daughter of the late Alfred and Mavis (Frederickson) Bonkoske.
Janet was a graduate of Royalton Hartland High School, Class of 1969. She worked as a Team Leader at Baxter Health Care, Medina. Janet previously worked for Medina Hospital, United Church Colony Homes in Gasport and worked for the former Sigma and continued when it changed to Baxter Health Care.
She was an avid bowler, enjoyed playing bingo, softball, baking cookies and loved football- especially the Buffalo Bills & the Green Bay Packers.
Survivors include six children Brenda Valigorsky, Katherine Cooper Abbott, Karl Cooper, David (Tammie) Cooper, Timothy (Robin) Cooper, Tonya Scott and a brother, Russell Bonkoske. Also surviving are eleven grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild and several nieces & nephews. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband Roger G. Cooper, Sr., whom she married on December 28, 1974 in the Hartland United Methodist Church and who died December 22, 2016, by a sister Evelyn Potter and a brother Howard Bonkoske.
Friends are welcome to call at Riles & Woolley Funeral Home, 39 Main Street, Forestville on Wednesday from 4-8 PM, from where Funeral Services will be held Thursday morning at 11 o’clock, with Rev. Michael Pollock, pastor of Gage Chapel Community Church, Smith Mills, officiating. Interment will follow in Balltown Cemetery, Town of Hanover.
