FORESTVILLE: Kenneth L. Miller, Jr., 88, of Cedar Street, Forestville, NY, died Tuesday, August 25th, 2020 at the Chautauqua Nursing & Rehab Center, Dunkirk. He was born in Wildwood, NJ on May 31, 1932, the son of the late Kenneth L. and Dorothy L. (LeGates) Miller, Sr.
Ken was a graduate of Cape May High School, Cape May, NJ, Class of 1950 and graduated from Haverford College in Haverford, PA in 1954, with a Bachelors (BS) in Biology. Mr. Miller took various courses at Temple University & Penn State related to Dairy Foods Manufacturing.
He served in the U.S. Navy from 1955-1957 as a Hospital Corpsman II. Ken attended Bootcamp & Hospital Corps School in Bainbridge, MD. He was attached to the US Marines Recruit Dept. at Parris Island, SC until his discharge.
Ken spent his entire career in Dairy Food Production Management. He worked for Sealtest Foods, Lehigh Valley Dairy, Fairman Food, Knudsen Corp., Vice President of Dunkirk Ice Cream and Superintendent of the Jam & Jelly and Catsup Department at the former Red Wing Co., Fredonia. Ken was a Trustee of the former Village of Forestville from 1995-1998 and served as Mayor from 1998-2004. He enjoyed reading and antiques. Ken was an American Military Buff, being interested in the World Wars and especially the Civil War. He also enjoyed the Buffalo Bills and his 2 Shih-tzu dogs “Elizabeth” & “Victoria”.
Survivors include his wife Linda K. (Kuciapinski) Miller of Forestville, whom he married on October 22, 1988, at Shorewood Country Club in Dunkirk, two daughters, Rebecca (Eric Worden) Smith, of Batavia; Laura (Don Getz) Schantz, of Emmaus, PA; two sons Loren (Trish) Smith, of Cassadaga; Bruce (Carol) Miller, of Alburtus, PA; and a sister, Nancy (Andy) Knopp, of Delaware & Florida. Also surviving are daughter in law Kathy Miller of Breinigsville, PA, eight grandchildren-Cameron Smith, Chris, Eric, Jennifer & Kelsey Miller, Kyra & Meghan Stella and Brandon Schantz. Besides his parents he was predeceased by a son Kenneth L. Miller, III, who died July 29, 2020.
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date, time and place to be announced.
