Obituary Notice – Alice E. Pope-Valentine (updated)

ValentineADUNKIRK: Alice E. Pope-Valentine, 78, of West 6th Street, Dunkirk, formerly of Forestville, died Saturday, April 6th, 2019 at Chautauqua Nursing & Rehab Center, Dunkirk, following a lengthy illness.  She was born in Westfield, on October 15, 1940, the daughter of the late Everett and Gladys (Tooker) Thompson, Sr.

Mrs. Pope-Valentine attended Forestville Central School, worked as a Bus Driver for Forestville Central School, for 35 years and also worked as a Bus Driver for Silver Creek Central School for 2 years.  She was previously an EMT with the Forestville Fire Department.

Mrs. Pope-Valentine loved her dog & cat, hockey and playing Bingo.  She was an avid Sabres, Bills & NASCAR fan.  Mrs. Pope-Valentine especially loved her children & grandchildren.

Survivors include three daughters, Peggy Panek, of Dunkirk; Connie Pope, of Fredonia; Rebecca (Jeffrey) Yacklon, of Dunkirk; two sons Chris Pope, of Forestville; Lance Pope, of Fredonia; and a brother, Everett (Roxanna) Thompson, Jr., of South Carolina.  Also surviving are fourteen grandchildren, one great grandson and several nieces & nephews.  Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband Dale Pope, a son Wayne Pope, three sisters Norine Peckham, Elmona Rice, Monica Sutherland and a brother Gardner “Clem” Thompson.

A Memorial Service will be held Sunday afternoon, June 9, 2015 at 2 o’clock from the Forestville United Methodist Church, Park Street, Forestville with Rev. James D. Hankey, pastor officiating.

The family suggests memorials may be made to the City of Dunkirk Fire Department, Headquarters 311 Eagle Street, Dunkirk, NY 14048.
