Obituary Notice – Denise Marie Sealander

SealanderDFORESTVILLE:  Denise Marie Sealander, 48, of Kuhrt Road, Forestville, formerly of Laona, passed away Monday, September 10th, 2018, following a courageous battle with cancer, at Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital, Williamsville.  She was born in Dunkirk, on September 30, 1969, the daughter of Mary C. (Stafford) Sealander, of Forestville and the late Karl G. Sealander, Sr.

Denise was a graduate of Fredonia Central School, Class of 1987.  She worked as a Bartender at Dunkirk VFW Post #1017, Dunkirk, for 5 years and previously worked as a cook & bartender for Sheridan VFW Post #6390, then as a bartender for American Legion Post #59, Fredonia for 14 years.  Denise was a member of the Sheridan VFW Auxiliary for 13 years, where she had served as a past president, a past member of the Chautauqua County VFW Auxiliary, where she served as president from 2010-2011, a member of the Beaver Club, Fredonia and the Dom Polski Club, Dunkirk.

She loved camping, going for walks, loved pets & her cats, especially “Moe” and became a friend of everyone she met.  Denise was a great mother influence to many of her friends children, who all called her “Aunt Denise”.

Surviving besides her mother are a brother, Karl G. Sealander, Jr., of Forestville, two Aunts Michele Damon and Deidre Moore and friends Ina Merino of Rochester and Rhonda Daminski of Dunkirk.  Besides her father she was predeceased by a brother Timothy Sealander.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.  Time and place to be announced. Interment will be at the convenience of the family in Laona Cemetery, Fredonia.

The family suggests memorials may be made either to the VA WNY Healthcare System %Volunteer Service, 3495 Bailey Avenue, Buffalo, NY 14215 or to the Sheridan VFW Memorial Post #6390, Rt. 20, Sheridan, NY 14135.  Arrangements are by Riles & Woolley Funeral Home, Forestville.  To post condolences go to www.rilesandwoolleyfuneralhome.com.

    I am so sorry sorry to hear of Elaine’s passing .
    Scott, I would have come in person to pay my respects but we are in Texas at this time.
    Thinking if you and keeping you all in prayer. Your Mom was a wonderful person.
