Obituary Notice – Karl “Skip” G. Sealander

sealanderkFORESTVILLE:  Karl “Skip” G. Sealander, Sr., 81, of Kuhrt Road, Forestville, died unexpectedly Tuesday, December 20th, 2016, at TLC/HN-Lake Shore Hospital, Irving.  He was born in Jamestown, on December 1, 1935, the son of the late Gustaf and Alice (Morrison) Sealander.

Mr. Sealander served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, from 1950-1957, being stationed in both Korea & Europe.  He worked as a Head Maintenance Man for Durion in Angola, for 30 years.  He was a member and longtime Post Commander of Sheridan VFW Memorial Post #6390, past County Commander and lifetime member of the Fredonia Beaver Club, where he was a past president.  Mr. Sealander enjoyed bird watching and loved doing yard work.

Survivors include his wife Mary C. (Stafford) Sealander, whom he married on September 12, 1959, in St. Joseph RC Church, Fredonia, a son, Karl G. Sealander, Jr., a daughter, Denise Sealander, both of Forestville; and a sister, Demaris Brown, of West Virginia.  Also surviving are several nieces & nephews.  Besides his parents he was predeceased by a son Timothy Sealander.

A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, December 27th at 12 noon from the Sheridan VFW Memorial Post #6390, Rt. 20, Sheridan, with a Military Service conducted by members of the Dunkirk Joint Veteran’s Council.  Private Interment will be at the convenience of the family Forest Hill Cemetery, Fredonia.
