{"id":917,"date":"2015-08-11T13:53:47","date_gmt":"2015-08-11T17:53:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/rilesandwoolleyfuneralhome.com\/?p=917"},"modified":"2015-08-11T13:53:47","modified_gmt":"2015-08-11T17:53:47","slug":"obituary-notice-kenneth-lyal-johnson","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/rilesandwoolleyfuneralhome.com\/?p=917","title":{"rendered":"Obituary Notice &#8211; Kenneth Lyal Johnson"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>THE VILLAGES, FL:\u00a0 Kenneth Lyal Johnson, 78, of The Villages, FL, passed away peacefully at The Villages Regional Hospital, FL, Tuesday, July 28th, 2015, with family members by his side.\u00a0 He was born in the Town of Arkwright, NY on February 14, 1937, the son of Grace (Hubbard) Johnson, of Jamestown and the late Leigh Johnson.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Johnson was a graduate of Forestville Central School, Class of 1955 and a graduate of Cornell University in Ithaca.\u00a0 He moved to The Villages in Florida in 2002, after retiring from owning his independent insurance agency in Forestville, where he continued his dedication to helping others.\u00a0 Always a consummate volunteer, Mr. Johnson was very active in the Forestville Fire Department, where he was an EMT &amp; an EMT Instructor.\u00a0 He was very active in the Masonic Lodge and with the Shrine.\u00a0 Mr. Johnson was the immediate past president of The Villages Shrine Club, was active with The Villages CERTS, worked as a CNA at Homewood, The Villages Hospital and Sumter Place.\u00a0 While he loved to play cards and travel with friends, he kept himself grounded with his work.\u00a0 More recently, he was very active in fund raising for Shriner&#8217;s Hospitals for Children.\u00a0 A quiet man with a sense of humor, he was worshiped by family and treasured by friends.<\/p>\n<p>Survivors include his loving wife Elaine (Hubbard) Johnson, of the Villages, whom he married July 25, 1987, three sons Kevin (Jodi) Johnson, of Forestville, Todd Johnson, of Ft. Myers, FL, Tim (Christine) Yocum, of Greenville, TX, a daughter, Danielle Yocum, of Orange City, FL and two brothers, Dale (Eva) Johnson, of Ross Mills and David (Donna) Johnson, of Forestville.\u00a0 Also surviving are 11 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and several nieces &amp; nephews.\u00a0 Besides his father he was predeceased by a brother Bruce Johnson.<\/p>\n<p>Friends are welcome to call at the Riles &amp; Woolley Funeral Home, 39 Main Street, Forestville on Friday from 6-8 pm.\u00a0 Members of Forestville Fire Department will conduct a Firemen&#8217;s Service at 6 o&#8217;clock in the Funeral Home.\u00a0 Memorial Services will be held from the Hanover Masonic Lodge #152 F&amp;AM, Main Street, Forestville, Saturday afternoon at 2 o&#8217;clock.\u00a0 Private Interment will be in Cottage Cemetery.<\/p>\n<p>The family suggests memorial donations may be made either to the Shrine Children&#8217;s Hospitals, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607, to the National MS Society (Mid-Florida Chapter), 2701 Maitland Central Pkwy, Suite 100, Maitland, FL 32751, the Forestville Fire Dept.
