Town, 90, a resident of Chautauqua Nursing &amp; Rehab, Dunkirk, formerly of Forestville, died Tuesday, January 13th, 2015 at Brooks Memorial Hospital.\u00a0 He was born in Forestville on July 14, 1924, the son of the late Grover M. and Lottie (Spurr) Town.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Town was a graduate of Forestville Central School, Class of 1942 and served in the U.S. Army from 1943 to 1945, during WW II.\u00a0 He retired with 33 years of service as a Rural Letter Carrier from the US Postal Service in Forestville.\u00a0 He also was a part-time school bus driver for 17 years for Forestville Central School.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Town was a member of Forestville United Methodist Church and was a life member and past Post Commander of the J. Carter Knapp American Legion Post #953, Forestville.\u00a0 He was also a life member of Cherry Creek VFW Post #2522 (since 1993), a life member of DAV Chapter #142 (since 1989) and was the oldest living Past Chautauqua County Commander of the American Legion (1955 to 1956).\u00a0 Mr. Town was an avid bowler, being inducted into the Dunkirk Bowling Association Hall of Fame and was a former member of the Village of Forestville Board.<\/p>\n<p>Survivors include two sons Carter (Mary Ann) Town, of Dunkirk, Dr. Donald (Nancy Bergstrom) Town, of El Segundo, CA and a daughter, Debra (Roy) Seyferth, of Matagalpa, Nicaragua.\u00a0 Also surviving are 2 grandchildren Amy (Michael) Dyczewski of Wexford, PA, Shawn Town of Jacksonville, FL, 3 great grandchildren Genevieve Town, Chloe &amp; Lia Dyczewski and several nieces &amp; nephews.\u00a0 Besides his parents he was predeceased by his beloved wife Violet G. (Kear) Town, whom he married June 1, 1946 in Weedville, PA and who died November 29, 2011, by 3 sisters Edna Johnston, Marian Schlick, Alice Lester and by a brother Russell Town.<\/p>\n<p>There will be no visitation observed.\u00a0 Memorial Services will be held from the Forestville United Methodist Church, 3 Park Street, Forestville, on Saturday morning, March 28th at 10:30 o&#8217;clock, with Rev. James D. Hankey, pastor officiating.\u00a0 Interment will be at the convenience of the family in Forestville Cemetery.<\/p>\n<p>The family suggests memorial donations may be made either to the Forestville Fire Dept. Emergency &amp; Rescue Squad, Chestnut Street, Forestville, NY 14062 or to J.
