Barnes, 82, of Pine Street, South Dayton, died Tuesday, December 30th, 2014 at Gowanda Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, following a short illness.\u00a0 He was born in Gowanda on January 5, 1932, the son of the late Wilbur and Arlene (Sweetland) Barnes.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Barnes graduated from Pine Valley Central School, Class of 1950 and served in the U.S. Air Force as an Airman 1st Class in the Korean War, receiving the Good Conduct Medal and National Defense Service Medal.\u00a0\u00a0 He worked as a Sterilizer Operator for the former Carnation Milk Company, South Dayton, for 32 years, retiring in 1994 and also previously worked for the former Peter Cooper Corp., Gowanda for 5 years as a Carpenter Helper.\u00a0 Mr. Barnes was a member of South Dayton United Methodist Church, was a member of the South Dayton American Legion Post #1593, since 1952 and enjoyed carpentry.<\/p>\n<p>Survivors include three daughters, Ramona (Lawrence) Del Proire, of Silver Creek, Rhonnda (Craig) Reynolds, of East Bethany, NY, Randee (John) Tooley, of Falconer, two sons Glenn E.B. Barnes and David W. (Dayle) Barnes, both of South Dayton and a brother, Robert Barnes, of Fredonia.\u00a0 Also surviving are 10 grandchildren, 1 step grandson, 7 great grandchildren, 2 step great grandchildren and several nieces &amp; nephews.<\/p>\n<p>Friends are welcome to call at the Riles &amp; Woolley Funeral Home, 39 Main Street, Forestville on Monday from 4-7 pm.\u00a0 Memorial Services will be held from South Dayton United Methodist Church, Pine Street, South Dayton, Tuesday morning at 11 o&#8217;clock, with Rev. Carol Dill officiating.\u00a0 Military Services will be conducted by members of the South Dayton American Legion Post #1593.\u00a0 Private interment will be at the convenience of the family in Villenova Cemetery.<\/p>\n<p>The family suggests memorial donations may be made either to the South Dayton United Methodist Church, Pine Street, South Dayton, NY 14138 or to the South Dayton Fire Dept.
