<\/a>FORESTVILLE:\u00a0 George W. Knapp, 84, of Walnut Street, Forestville, died Saturday, April 19th, 2014 at TLC\/HN-Lake Shore Hospital, Irving, following a short illness.\u00a0 He was born in the Village of Forestville, on July 18, 1929, the son of the late C. Warren and Gertrude (Strickland) Knapp, Sr.<\/p>\nMr. Knapp was a graduate of Forestville Central School, Class of 1947 and worked as a Supervisor for the Ford Stamping Plant, Buffalo, for 30 years, retiring in 1981.\u00a0\u00a0 He was a member of the Forestville Village Board from 1964-1973, was Mayor of the Village of Forestville from 1969-1973, was President of the Chautauqua County Mayor’s Association in 1973, was an exempt member of the Forestville Fire Department and was Secretary\/Treasurer of the Forestville Pioneer Cemetery Association from 1969-2012.\u00a0 Mr. Knapp enjoyed gardening, the stock market, sports & traveling.<\/p>\n
Survivors include a son, George W. Knapp, III, of Forestville, two daughters, Barbara A. Knapp, of Buffalo and Sandra L. Daminski, of Seguin, TX.\u00a0 Also surviving are 7 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and many nieces & nephews.\u00a0 Besides his parents he was predeceased by his wife Melba M. (Ruper) Knapp, whom he married on October 4, 1952 in North East, Pennsylvania and who died October 18, 2004, by an infant son Donald Knapp, who died in 1954, by an infant daughter Cindy Knapp, who died in 1958 and by a brother C. Warren Knapp, Jr.<\/p>\n
There will be no visitation observed.\u00a0 Private Graveside Services will be at the convenience of family in Pioneer Cemetery, Forestville.<\/p>\n
The family suggests memorial donations may be made to the Forestville Fire Dept.
