Dix, 86, of Dennison Road, Forestville, died Tuesday, March 11th, 2014 at TLC\/HN-Lake Shore Hospital, Irving, following a brief illness.\u00a0 He was born in the Town of Hanover on June 9, 1927, the son of the late James and Gertrude (Lake) Dix.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Dix was a graduate of Forestville Central School, Class of 1944.\u00a0 He started his career working at his parents store in Smith Mills, then managed the former Silver Creek Preserving for 28 years, was a Dairy &amp; Grape Farmer for approximately 10 years, worked for the former Chisolm\/Ryder, selling grape harvesters, then started his own business- Norm Dix Co., Forestville, selling grape harvester parts, for 27 years.\u00a0 Mr. Dix was a Trustee of the Forestville Pioneer Cemetery for over 40 years and was an exempt member of the Forestville Fire Department.\u00a0 He enjoyed playing baseball and occasional trips to the Casinos.<\/p>\n<p>Survivors include his wife Lena (Meadows) Dix, of Forestville, whom he married November 17, 1951, in the Forestville United Methodist Church, two daughters, Suzanne (Ron) Kaliko, of Hawaii, Jennifer (Jim) Cruver, of Amherst and two sons James (Rebecca) Dix, of Silver Creek &amp; Robert (Lynette) Dix, of Portland.\u00a0 Also surviving are 7 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, special niece Sandra Dix along with several other nieces &amp; nephews.\u00a0 Besides his parents he was predeceased by 2 brothers Donald &amp; David Dix, by 2 sisters Amelia Smith &amp; Bessie Lee and by a grandson Daniel Dix.<\/p>\n<p>Friends are welcome to call at the Riles &amp; Woolley Funeral Home, 39 Main Street, Forestville on Friday from 2-4 &amp; 7-9 pm, from where Funeral Services will be held Saturday afternoon at 1 o&#8217;clock, with Rev. William Leslie officiating.\u00a0 Interment will follow in Pioneer Cemetery, Forestville.<\/p>\n<p>The family suggests memorial donations may be made to HOSPICE Chautauqua County, Inc. 20 W.
