FORESTVILLE:  Elaine J. Watson, 94, of Rt 39, Forestville passed away Sunday, October 6th, 2024 at Chautauqua Nursing & Rehab Center, Dunkirk, following a short illness.  She was born in Buffalo on August 23, 1930, the daughter of the late Clyde and Margaret (Bondurant) Roof.<\/p>\n

  Elaine was a graduate of Silver Creek Central School, Class of 1949 and worked as a Cashier for the former The Meat Counter in Dunkirk, for 10 years.  She had previously worked as a waitress & baker for the former Roof’s Restaurant of Silver Creek and also for Walker’s Fruit Basket of Sheridan.  Elaine was a member of the First Baptist Church, Dunkirk and she enjoyed spending her winters in Floral City, Florida.<\/p>\n

  Survivors include two sons David (Mary Ellen) Watson, of Silver Creek; and Robert Watson, of Fredonia.  Also surviving are ten grandchildren, five great grandchildren and several nieces & nephews.  Besides her parents she was predeceased by her grandmother Ora “Gram” Bondurant, her husband David A. Watson whom she married on November 24, 1951 in Silver Creek and who died June 29, 2018; son James Watson who died December 27, 2022, a grandson Scott Watson, infant brother Clyde Roof, Jr. and two brothers Charles & Jay Roof.<\/p>\n

  Friends are welcome to call at Riles & Woolley Funeral Home, 39 Main Street, Forestville on Wednesday evening from 6-8 pm from where Funeral Services will be held at 8 o’clock with Rev. David Watson, son & pastor of Sheridan United Methodist Church, officiating.  Private Interment will be in Sheridan Center Cemetery, Town of Sheridan.<\/p>\n

  The family suggests memorials may be made to J. Carter Knapp American Legion Post #953, PO Box 492, Forestville, NY 14062 or to Sheridan Fire Department, PO Box 122, Sheridan, NY 14135.<\/p>\n
