{"id":3201,"date":"2024-10-05T06:53:39","date_gmt":"2024-10-05T10:53:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/rilesandwoolleyfuneralhome.com\/?p=3201"},"modified":"2024-10-05T06:53:39","modified_gmt":"2024-10-05T10:53:39","slug":"obituary-notice-james-parsons-rider","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/rilesandwoolleyfuneralhome.com\/?p=3201","title":{"rendered":"Obituary Notice &#8211; James Parsons Rider"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/rilesandwoolleyfuneralhome.com\/home\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/RiderJ.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone  wp-image-3202\" src=\"https:\/\/rilesandwoolleyfuneralhome.com\/home\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/RiderJ-256x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"126\" height=\"148\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Avon Park, FL:&nbsp; James Parsons Rider, 90, of Avon Park, FL, passed away Tuesday, August 27th, 2024 at AdventHealth Hospital, Sebring FL.&nbsp; He was born in the Village of Forestville, NY on February 24, 1934, the son of the late Robert Delos and Daphne Ann (Dye) Rider, II.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp; Jim grew up in the Village of Cherry Creek and married Elaine Cauthen in 1955.&nbsp; He served in the U.S. Army, while stationed in Norfolk, Virginia.&nbsp; After his discharge, he moved to Georgia, working in the banking industry.&nbsp; They had two children, Merry Lou &amp; Robert Delos Rider, III.&nbsp; They moved to Panama City, FL, but the marriage ended in divorce.&nbsp; Later, Jim met Annette Morris, who became his wife on October 27, 1971.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp; Jim loved everything about cars, and could tell you the year, make and model of most cars.&nbsp; He traded cars frequently and always took great care of each of them.&nbsp; He also loved airplanes and went to ground school to get his pilot\u2019s license, but never received in-flight training.&nbsp; Taking night classes, Jim received a law degree from the Woodrow Wilson School of Law, but never practiced.&nbsp; His interest in the law led him to become a member of the Florida Sheriff\u2019s Association and a proud member of the NRA.&nbsp; Leaving Panama City, Jim and Annette retired to Avon Park, Florida in 2005. &nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp; Survivors include his wife of almost 53 years, Annette (Morris) Rider of Avon Park, FL, a daughter, Merry (Howard) Toole, of Rome, GA; a son, Robert D. (Suzanne) Rider, III of Cumming, GA, and a brother, David (Sally) Rider, of Dunkirk, NY &amp; Avon Park, FL.&nbsp; Also surviving are six grandchildren; Davis Rider, Nelson &amp; Barry Toole, and Olivia, Grace &amp; Brendan Turner.&nbsp; Besides his parents he was predeceased by a sister, Mary Ann (Albert) May, of Mt.
