Nowak"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/rilesandwoolleyfuneralhome.com\/home\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/NowakJ1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-226\" title=\"NowakJ\" src=\"https:\/\/rilesandwoolleyfuneralhome.com\/home\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/NowakJ1-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a>Marion, AR:\u00a0 James &#8220;Jimmy&#8221; F. Nowak, 62, of Marion, Arkansas, formerly of Silver Creek, died Thursday, April 19th, at home following a brave battle with cancer.\u00a0 He was born in Silver Creek, on December 12, 1949, the son of Helen (Sypniewski) Nowak, of Brocton and the late Henry Nowak.<br \/>\nMr. Nowak was a graduate of Forestville Central School, Class of 1968.\u00a0 He enlisted in the Marine Corps for a 3 year term from 1968-1971, serving 2 overseas assignments in Okinawa and Vietnam.\u00a0 After returning from Vietnam, he served an additional 2 years in the reserves and was honorably discharged in 1974, attaining the rank of Corporal.\u00a0 His commendation medals included the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnamese Service Medal w\/2 stars, Vietnamese Campaign Medal and the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry.\u00a0 He also received certificates of acknowledgement for truck driving supplies in and out of war zones.<br \/>\nFollowing his discharge, he worked as a Bricklayer locally, continuing in the family tradition of masonry.\u00a0 Mr. Nowak relocated to Texas after accepting a job with Kellogg Brown &amp; Root Construction Company.\u00a0 After several years, he transferred to the Memphis area and eventually settled in Arkansas, to continue working in his trade.\u00a0 Mr. Nowak was an outdoor enthusiast and enjoyed hunting, fishing and trapping.\u00a0 While residing in Spring, Texas, for a period of time he owned and operated a small game fur buying &amp; trading business.\u00a0 He was an avid reader and enjoyed country music and westerns.\u00a0 Mr. Nowak frequently spoke of Western New York &amp; Sheridan, where he grew up.\u00a0 He enjoyed being raised in the country, where he would often hunt and fish with his brothers.\u00a0 Mr. Nowak was a lifelong member of Samuel Cimino VFW Post #6472, Silver Creek and a former member of the Lakeshore Marine Corps League.<br \/>\nSurviving besides his mother are a son, James Nowak, II, of Silver Creek, a daughter, Jenlene Nowak, of Arlington, VA, a brother, John Nowak, of Lyndonville, NY, a sister, Lynette (Greg) Arnold, of Webster, NY, long time companion Jo Ann Rogers, of Marion, AR, 1 uncle, several nieces, nephews, cousins and the mother of his children, Patricia Nowak, of Silver Creek.\u00a0 Besides his father he was predeceased by a brother Thomas Nowak.<br \/>\nThere will be no visitation observed.\u00a0 A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from Our Lady of Mt. Carmel RC Church, 165 Central Avenue, Silver Creek, on Saturday, May 19th at 11 o&#8217;clock, with Rev. Daniel Fiebelkorn, pastor officiating.\u00a0 Interment will follow in Mt.
