\"MeierC\"<\/a>IRVING:\u00a0 Charles J. Meier, 78, of Versailles Road, Irving, died Saturday, March 14th, 2020 at his residence, following some health issues.\u00a0 He was born in Colden, NY on November 2, 1941, the son of the late Clarence and Marian (Barkewitz) Meier.<\/p>\n

He served in the U.S. Air Force as an Airman 3rd Class during the Vietnam War.\u00a0 Mr. Meier was a truck driver for 50 years, including the former Ohio Fast Freight and the former Detroit Pittsburgh Motor Freight, Detroit, MI.\u00a0 He loved farming, enjoyed camping and getting together with family.<\/p>\n

Survivors include his wife Frances E. (Blackowski) Meier of Irving, whom he married on September 12, 1970, in Brant, a daughter, Tania (Peter) Smith, of Forestville; three sisters, Pat (Ron) Kobel, of Farnham; Barb Mumford, of Clearfield, PA; Sandra Morris, of Silver Creek; two brothers, Jim (Liz) Meier, of Rochester; David (Donna) Meier, of Morgantown, KY, two grandchildren Peter (Precious) Smith and Buck Smith both of Forestville and was the proud great grandfather of Peter Jacob Smith. Also surviving are special friends Joan Weston and family.\u00a0 Besides his parents he was predeceased by a sister Cheryl Meier.<\/p>\n

Friends are welcome to call at Riles & Woolley Funeral Home, 39 Main Street, Forestville on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM from where PRIVATE<\/strong> Funeral Services will be held Friday morning, with Rev. Bruce M. Ellis, pastor of the Forestville Wesleyan Church, officiating.\u00a0 Military services will be conducted by members of J. Carter Knapp American Legion Post #953, Forestville.<\/p>\n

The family suggests memorials may be made either to Chautauqua Hospice & Palliative Care, 20 W. Fairmount Avenue, Lakewood, NY 14750 or to the Forestville Wesleyan Church, 9495 Prospect Road, Forestville, NY 14062.<\/p>\n
