Newton, 91, a resident of Chautauqua Nursing &amp; Rehab, Temple Road Dunkirk, formerly of Forestville, died Sunday, August 28th, 2016, at UPMC Hamot, Erie, PA, following a lengthy illness.<\/p>\n<p>She was born in Forestville, on August 20, 1925, the daughter of the late Clarence P. and Frances P. (Matteson) Henry.\u00a0 Mrs. Newton was a graduate of Forestville Central School, Class of 1944, worked for many local factories including canning &amp; glass factories and tied grapes for Joseph Dolce.\u00a0 She also served as an election official.\u00a0 She was a member of the Forestville Baptist Church, the former Grapevine Rebekah Lodge #270, current member of the Stockton Star Rebekah Lodge #395 and former member of the Forestville Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.<\/p>\n<p>Mrs. Newton enjoyed doing needlepoint, crossword puzzles, playing cards, was a big Jeff Gordon fan and was devoted to reading the Bible.<\/p>\n<p>Survivors include a daughter, Sandra (Glen Richardson) Jacobs, of Forestville, two granddaughters Michele Jacobs of Jamestown, Carolyn (Brian) Sheldon of Forestville and two great grandchildren Nicole &amp; Christopher Sheldon both of Forestville.\u00a0 Also surviving is a brother-in-law Donald Newton of Florida and several nieces &amp; nephews.\u00a0 Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband Roger W. Newton, whom she married in the Forestville Baptist Church and who died May 1, 1992 and three sisters Doris Merrill, Myrtle Lambert and Eliza Henry.<\/p>\n<p>Friends are welcome to call at Riles &amp; Woolley Funeral Home, 39 Main Street, Forestville on Thursday, from 2-4 and 7-9 PM, from where Funeral Services will be held Friday morning at 11 o&#8217;clock, with Rev. Michael Pollock officiating.\u00a0 Private Interment will be at the convenience of the family in Forestville Cemetery.<\/p>\n<p>The family suggests memorials may be made to Forestville Fire Dept.
