Crosgrove, 91, of East Main Road, Town of Sheridan, died Wednesday, January 20th, 2016, at Chautauqua Nursing &amp; Rehab Center, Dunkirk, following a short illness.\u00a0 She was born in Buffalo on March 13, 1924, the daughter of the late Mayman L. and Blanche (Cook) Gilray.<\/p>\n<p>Mrs. Crosgrove was a graduate of Dunkirk High School, Class of 1941, had attended the former Dunkirk Business Institute, and graduated from Bryant &amp; Stratton Institute, Buffalo.\u00a0 She worked as a Salary Payroll Coordinator at the former Al-Tech Specialty Steel Corp., Dunkirk., for 33 years retiring in 1983. She had previously worked for the former Minneapolis Honeywell in Buffalo for several years, and then for the former Allegheny Ludlum Steel, Dunkirk.<\/p>\n<p>She was a member of the Sheridan United Methodist Church, the Sheridan United Methodist Women&#8217;s Society and the Sheridan United Methodist Men.\u00a0 Mrs. Crosgrove was also a charter member of the Sheridan Happy Seniors, where she was a tour guide for 20 years, was a member of the Sheridan Cemetery Association,\u00a0 where she served as treasurer for 25 years, and enjoyed flower gardening.<\/p>\n<p>In 1976, she was the chairperson of the bicentennial for the Town of Sheridan and was responsible for having the Daniel Reed Monument erected at his homestead in Sheridan.\u00a0 Mrs. Crosgrove was also responsible for having a roadside sign erected, commemorating\u00a0 the Sheridan Depot of the New York &amp; Erie Railroad and the completion of the Piermont-on-the-Hudson to Dunkirk line on May 15 1851.\u00a0 She was instrumental in having the seniors sponsor a roadside sign depicting the location of the Sheridan Streetcar Depot and honoring the streetcars that traveled from Fredonia to Buffalo from Dec. 24, 1908 to Jan. 28, 1933.<\/p>\n<p>Survivors include a step daughter, Jacqueline C. (Sheldon) Grant, of Fredonia and a step grandson Colonel David J. Jungquist serving in the US Army Reserves in Tennessee.\u00a0 Also surviving are several cousins including special cousins-Justin H. Niebel, Joyce Cordt Robinson &amp; their families, Terry (JoAnn) Niebel and their children Lesley Niebel, Stacy Webber, Justin J. (Erin) Niebel and their son Jack.\u00a0 Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband Jack Crosgrove, whom she married September 20, 1968 in the Sheridan United Methodist Church and who died August 23, 2009.<\/p>\n<p>Friends are welcome to call at the Riles &amp; Woolley Funeral Home, 39 Main Street, Forestville on Friday from 3-7 pm.\u00a0 Funeral Services will be held Saturday morning at 11 o&#8217;clock from the Sheridan United Methodist Church, Main Road, Sheridan, with Rev. James Spiller, pastor and Pastor Robert Robinson, cousin of the deceased, officiating.
